My Design from last Week...

= Fashion Browine

   1. My 1st concepts is LOUIS VUITTON. Because LV is one of the fashion product that everybody in the world all crazy about and no one don't know it.
       My 2nd concepts is Dressing up with fashions!! I'm gonna try to put some fashion style clothes on Browine.
   2. My 1st feeling is for this design is fashion can be cute.
       2nd feeling is a star!! To make Browine looks like a super start is normally we can tell in fashion.
   3. So I combine LV logo skin with the cute Browine bear. And also when Browine wear the fashion dress like super star will all present ing this 2 element's combination.



= Sports Browine

 1. My 1st concepts is New York Yankees. Because New York Yankees is the most famous sports team that everybody know.

     My 2nd concepts is "Hey! Let's go sports!" 

 2. My 1st feeling is healthy.

       2nd feeling is joyful.
       What I think is sports make people more health and happy with energy. 

 3. So I put New York Yankees's uniform in my Browine, make he looks like a happy sports bear with big fan of Yankees.

。Combining concept and feeling into design
I'm thinking about colourful and fun, so spring jumper giving me my feeling. Students and creating art also giving me the same feeling. Therefore, my concept is base on cordiality and jump. Students from creative art always open-armed to present their work and always having fun while creating.

。Cherill's DL Design
Cherill's concept and feeling is innovative, Excitement and fresh. I think the colour of background has delivered fresh. And also the orange colour is the new fashion colour in this couple years. Squeegee juice is very good idea like art students squeezing ideas. And also squeegee feeling fun!

Paul's main concept is energy. I think his design is very professional. The fire light feel like life and electrical. And also really meet the concept of simplicity.

。 Katelyn's DL Design
Katelyn's main concept and feeling is passion. The colour that she choice meet the concept in totally. The arrangement of those maple leaves are pretty also feeling romantic. The top blur snowing actually giving a lot of imaginary space. The colour of the word are good, but too similar colour hue with background. Maybe a bit contrast will be better for reading it.

= Comment others design works =
1. Chiller 
    Chiller's logo name cracker as her own business name. I like this as a biscuit name. The logo that she use egg as base and logo name on the top and button around the egg with a letter C in the middle. And also she use the different bright colour to present each individual alphable. I think this is very ideally and colour make people come out creative image. 

2. Paul
    Paul's business name is very professional as "Myatt Media". And he also play with the 2 M in a very cool perspective way like a M square mountain as logo which is brilliant. I like the logo much more than the non-profit arts organisation, because second one is not like paul's style. 

3. Queenie
    Queenie's business name call " Queen Workshop". I'm trying to play with Q and W to put this 2 perspective letter together and able to present and better view. The non-profit arts organisation I'm going to use my design crown to be it. The crown is include the sun, 2 stars and the moon in against the sun which is mean the universal.

4. June
    June's business name is "Cupcakes House" and logo has her own drawing of cupcake.I like her drawing style, make me feel like there's a girl with a lot of dream. The name of "The Art Tree Foundation" is a good name. Tree could able give people a rememberable impressive.

5. Katelyn 
   Katelyn's logo also with full her personal style. I like the way theta she position the letters. Like that she put "P" down to make 2 area on the button and comes out a good place for 2 another word. The colour with different shape is brilliant, I don't know how she did it. Even the colour style is not my area but that's a good present as her own style.

6. Adrain    Adrain got very good drawing skill. His drawing is very creative and complicate that people are not easy to copy his art works. I think he's got a lot of creative idea in his mind.

My illustrator skill still very lump, this kind of video able to giving me a lot of information for the skill and technique. It's just sometimes it is too quick that I couldn't catch how he did it even I did slow down the video. Always need to repeat and repeat again. Takes me long time to follow up.

Week 05 3D Design

Group exercise - Challenge assumptions

1. Cherill's  helmet Cover

          Assumption 1: If rider wear this cove on the helmet and riding will it still able to tell that you are having a helmet and not to be pull by policeman?

          Assumption 2: How much does it cost?

          My observations: 

          I think this product will be a big sale product. And Cherill also having smart ideas and trying to make a pocket on the cover than people could able to put money or mobile while riding a bike. The material is washable, easy dry and soft. but might will be to heavy for putting a mobile in to the soft pocket.

     2. Paul's Steampunk Computer

         Assumption 1: Is the wires safe?
         Assumption 2: Will you add things for the aesthetics of the product?
         Assumption 3: Will the aesthetics also include the keyboard or tower?

         My observations:
       
         This ideas is to complicate for me, so I didn't really get it. Smart person doing smart work and normally make big changes. I think Paul got a concept like apple always trying to do, and also meet the rule of make things simplicity. What I know here is try the best to explore the ideas and make it out than change the word.


     3. Queenie and Denise's kids story book

• Topic : Little Brownie Little Trip

        Assumption 1: Where the price of print cost too much?
        Assumption 2: Drawing with colour pencil might not able to present better sketch line when scan into illustrator.
        Assumption 3:If trying to read our concept story to read the the kids and parents in the library kid's book zone might will get some feedback.
        Assumption 4: maybe put both of chinese and english for the story?!


       =Suggestion and ideas from everybody=
       1. "Little Brownie little journey" might be better?
       2. 5 years old kids like rhyme rhyme, will be better to try making rhyme.
       3. Magic pudding story book is also a good sample.

There's a lot of video and website are showing how people do a story book. And those video give a lot of help and ideas in how to start when I'm thinking what I should do now. And also I've got more ideas and images in hoe to process it. But at the beginning for me, I'm going to get a way as easier as possible to start with.

GROUP EXERCISE 

• Part 1: Challenge assumptions

Q1. Relatives - A doctor in London had a brother in Manchester, who was a lawyer - but the lawyer in Manchester did not have a brother in London who was a doctor. Why?

- the lawyer is the brother in Manchester.
- Because the doctor is the lawyer's sister.

Q2. Bottled Money - If you put a small coin piece in an empty bottle and replaced the cork, how would you get the coin out of the bottle without taking out the cork or breaking the bottle?

- Just push the cork in.

Q3. The Restaurant Meal - Three women each have two daughters, and they all go into a restaurant for a meal. There are only seven vacant seats in the restaurant, but each has a seat for herself. How do they manage it? 

- The three women and two daughters are grandmother, mother and daughter.

MIKE’S AUDITION
Have you ever been in Los Angeles freeway traffic? We were once in bumper‐to‐bumper traffic, trying to get to the airport at 10:30 at night. I didn't know that there were traffic jams until late in the evening. In any case, if you have had a similar experience, you can relate to the following problem, which will show us how challenging assumptions leads to more creative solutions.
Mike had an audition for a movie role at eight the next morning. But it was in Hollywood, and he lived on the other side of Los Angeles. He was notified of the audition late, and now it was one in the morning. This was a problem, because it could take as much as four hours to get through the morning traffic, and he needed time to shower and get ready. He would have to get up by a little after three that morning.
He thought about this. Just two hours of sleep, followed by hours on the freeway ‐ this might affect his performance. This would be his first important role if he was hired, so his mind started scrambling for solutions. Taking the bus might be faster than driving his van, but he didn't know the bus schedules, and it was too late to find out. He looked at a map of the city, hoping for a better route, and he might have found one, but it seemed dangerous to guess about routes he wasn't familiar with at this point.
He suddenly recalled a problem solving technique his friend Steve had told him about, and decided to try it. He did the assumption‐challenging exercise, starting with a pen and piece of paper and writing a list of assumptions.

1. What would be on your list of assumptions ‐ if you were Mike?

     -There might be traffic at 3 o'clock in the morning.
     - might only got 2 hours to sleep because need time to drive and shower ...ect.
     - there's another why to go quicker and without traffic  but not too familiar with that road, it is too risk because might get lost and take more time.
     - take bus might be quicker but not ideas with bus schedule and timetable. ( I think Mike might never take bus before, so he think might take much more longer to find it out)
     - performance for audition might get affect because leek of sleep.
     

2. Challenge each item in the list and find a solution to Mike’s problem 

• There might be traffic at 3 o'clock in the morning.

          - Go on road early before the traffic start

•  might only got 2 hours to sleep because need time to drive and shower ...ect.

          - Take bus, taxi or as a friend's favour to get there without drive by self and able to get more sleep.

•  there's another why to go quicker and without traffic  but not too familiar with that road, it is too risk because might get lost and take more time.

          - better not to take risk because it is not worth and also Mike might get more tired in drive on a unfamiliar way. Or make call to taxi services and ask for a taxi who has more experience in this way.

          - Use smart phone to find out. 

          - Don't take bus, get a cap.

          - call up bus service station, they will find out for you in 10 mins or less.

          - take energy drink or coffee.

          - try the relax way in transportation like bus, taxi or friend could able to get more sleep on the way.

          - shower or cold water face wash before audition.

Practical - Design challenge/ reflect & refine

- My christmas card design, I wanna use Adobe Illustrator free drawing to draw the image that I need because it able to presenting better image than hand drawing by colour pencil. The problem is my Adobe Illustrator techqunie is not too familiar, so it might take double or triple time than I expect.

- My piggy christmas card need to print on a hard paper, could I do it on the printer in the classroom? Will it make the printer not working.

- My CDU hand bag design is A3 size design by Illustrator and photoshop, how could I able to do A3 print out?

Week 04 3D Design

PRACTICAL – Design ExplorationChoose your favourite concept from all your current 3D designs

I was assent on this week, so here I am going to try to put my project concept and process so far.

Group Member: Queenie Wu and Denise Watson

Exhibition: Kids story books

Growing this week:

• Topic set- [ Little Brownie Little Trip]

    The story contact is about teddy bear Brownie's venture. It is a big venture for little brownie but actually at the end of the story that he just walk down the street and back home.

• Book size: Half of A4 = A5 , total 10 pages story of A4 = 20 pages of A5

   The illustration and drawing will be creating on A4 on every pages of story, but fold into a A5 size as a book. Background will cove the full A4 page, the letters position one the left hand site and the main illustration on the right.

• Audience focus on about 5 years old children

  Therefore the story need to be simple and easy. Trying to creating about up to 5 sentence per page but need catch the main concept about the story.

• Pages brief: 
• P1: Get really to go! Brownie having his backpack on and says: I'm going out! (Background @ home)
• P2: on the way or something
• P3: Meet a postman and the post man gives a mail of Brownie's friend. Brownie loves to help t delivery it.
• P4:Delivery the mail to his friend. Friend says something like "you are brave, it's too dangers outside, you should just stay at home"
• P5: Brownie thinking about a park that he used to go with Dad and Mom. Now he try to remind the way and go.
• P6: Meet doggy and kitty @ park
• P7: Helping the lost little piggy find his mom
• P8: Brownie miss mom,too. Going home and try to help mom buy milk and bread.
• P9: @ Shop
• P10: Back to home give a hug with mom.
• The way in presenting:  

   Couples hard copies - finding out  the way in bonding it. Use a nice hard paper as the cover.

   Video show: make every pages into a video and play like a movie.

   Screen show on the wall: Need to talk with Peter.

(This is one of the best tutor for me because he also showing the brief ideas at very beginning and also what sort of picture that he research from. the way he try to make out his characters is also make me feel interesting. He break down everything of the character that his imagination like just a eyes, nose, hair or ears that his trying to design with. and also try to design his own character animal with human personality.  This is a very good example and tutoring for me)

As more as research I did as much technique I can get, and this is giving me a good start and also a better present on my own designing style.

I found water colour pencil is a easier much more than water colour painting to present the mix-colour. I'm thinking the remote-controled roller skate. To put a remote-controled ic board in between roller and shoe than we can remote-controled our walk. Maybe we can be don't even need to run but speed fast than running.

If you had watch the movie "Transformers", not sure if you have ever noticed that there's group of people jump out from v-22 osprey and flying with wingsuit. Wingsuit design idea and shape comes from polatouche which is a kind of flying squire. People able to fly without any machine or heavy object but just wearing a special suit!! This is brave idea. I think Mr. Jari Kuosma has a big heart to create this suit and try it is very brilliant  and brave.
